Nayana Bhattacharya, the founder and the principal designer, holds a Bachelor’s degree Interior Architecture and Design from the City University, Brighton, Sussex, UK, and went on to pursue a Post Graduate Diploma in Furniture and Urban lighting at RHODEC International, UK. She travelled far and wide in UK and Europe, attending fairs and exhibitions to enrich her knowledge in space planning and arts and crafts of various countries. Moving to Kolkata in 1999, she started participating in Interior fairs and functioning under her own firm, then known as Shikara interiors, in 2000. Instead of getting constrained by the limitations that existed in the city towards the end of nineties in terms of material available, accessories and furniture, the clients’ exposure,she explored the potential of the skilled workers here and Indian arts and crafts and the richness of Indian textile and used the resources in highly stylised modern apartments and commercial spaces. Due to her varied interests and training and exposure, she created interiors that reflect an international feel with an Indian blend. Her career grew as she found her niche designing for NRI clientele in various luxury complexes where the word of mouth became the strongest reference.
Interiors by Nayana is a Kolkata based Interior designing firm specialising in high-end residential and commercial spaces as well as luxury bungalows and model apartments. Our work is defined by a minimalist aesthetic that is effortlessly timeless, inviting and functional. We provide professional oversight into all aspects of design and execution, working closely with our clients to ensure their satisfaction throughout the process. Our team has years of experience successfully managing projects of all sizes on schedule. The firm became partner with Urbano Home Décor pvt ltd, Southcity Mall, Basement 10, in 2008 in its Kitchen department and executed 154 flats in South city within a couple of years’ time.In addition to the designing houses, the firm expanded into a modular kitchen manufacturing company and executed kitchens not just in the city, but in various parts of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa. In 2015, the company took the name of its founder as the brand became synonymous with her name. Over the years, the firm has designed hospitals, showrooms, restaurants and corporate offices. A passionate gardener herself, she has challenged her creativity and trained herself in landscape designing and now executing rooftop gardening for her clients. She attributes her acceptance among her clients due to her transparency, commitment and her continuous attempt to upgrade herself with the latest trend in style and technology.
